Already Looking To Book Again
Afrato Village is in a perfect location for both Trapezaki and Lourdata with restaurants within walking distance.
It was our third visit to Kefalonia but our first stay at Afrato Village and we will definitely be returning to stay again.
Gerry was always on hand to help if required, the apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean, the pool area and gardens beautiful and the view from our balcony amazing.
The only negatives were that the pool bar is only open from 5pm till 7pm, the pillows were too hard and there wasn’t any additional pillows, there is no hairdryer or iron in the room and a sandwich maker would be a good addition but these are all small things and would not stop us from coming back.Julie Wiseman West Sussex
Looking forward to our stay in May
Not long now and we’ll be in the beautiful Afrato Village again, being welcomed by the ever-friendly and charming Jerry and his team. This will be our fourth time staying and long may it continue. Our love of the island began on our first visit in 2000 and we’ve been visiting ever since, staying in various hotels/villas, but once we found Jerry’s villa, we stopped looking elsewhere and have enjoyed the wonderful accommodation he offers, his cheery smile and helpful assistance when required. See you soon Jerry!Ros and Jim LL120AL
Another great stay
Would just like to say a very big thank you to Jerry and his family for another wonderful stay in Kefalonia. Lovely clean apartments, beautiful weather, fantastic food and perfect hosts. Will definitely be back. Why go anywhere else when there’s a place like this.Dennis and Irene
Pam and Steve have pretty much summed up what we wanted to say after our stay at Afrato Village. It was our first visit, but definitely won’t be our last. From the minute we were met by Jerry and Natasha at the airport we enjoyed every second. Jerry and Christina are brilliant people and great fun. Rather than repeat what has already been said below, we’d like to pass on some bits and pieces that others may find useful.
The island is very, very green and beautiful, therefore in the evenings the mossies do come out, easily solved by using plug-in units in the apartment.
A car is pretty much essential, there are no cash machines in the village, so if you’re relying on cards to obtain cash it is a 30 minute drive to Argostoli (where you can buy fish off the boats!) and you may be lucky enough to see a turtle stealing fish off a fisherman’s line, as we were.
Do travel the island, it is gorgeous, do try to see as much as possible, but you’ll find the best beaches are on your doorstep! You are quite high above these, so keep the beach toys light!
Within a 15-20 minute walk there are plenty of eateries – you could eat in a different place every night but of course we had our favourites. Local food is varied and good and the local wine is excellent. However, the apartments are very well equipped and it is fun to shop local and eat in too.
Great to meet the many returnees and look forward to sharing ‘beer o’clock’ in the future again.Andy, Val, Kirsty and Leigh
Another wonderful stay
We have just returned rather sadly from yet another fantastic stay at the Afrato Apartments. This was our fifth year and we have already booked for next year because we cannot wait to go back again. Jerry and Christina are perfect hosts – nothing is too much trouble for them. Jerry is a very kind man with a great deal of old-world charm but with a dry, wicked sense of humour who likes to tease his regulars unmercifully – fortunately he has a never-ending supply because quite a few of his guests are ‘returners’! His wife, Christina, is a lovely, bubbly lady who doesn’t speak much English but makes up for this lack in other caring ways, flowers on arrival, maybe some cake or jam as a surprise one day. The apartments (which are the largest we have ever stayed in), gardens and the pool are all kept spotlessly clean – and the views are stunning, whether to the sea or the mountains behind. I would recommend the Afrato Village to anyone who enjoys getting away from it all – it is in a very quiet area some way from the villages. Unless you enjoy walking (it is VERY hilly) I would recommend hiring a car or (if you are feeling brave) a scooter because it is out of the way. Thanks Jerry and Christina for another wonderful stay – we miss you but are already looking forward to next year.Pam & Steve
The ideal spot
For a relaxing and very laid-back holiday then this is the ideal place. It is quiet and peaceful and has wonderful views overlooking the sea. The apartments are clean , tidy and well equipped. There is a large swimming pool and on a number of days there are so few people that it feels like your own private pool. However the one thing that makes this the ideal spot is that the owners Jerry and Christina make you feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you feel like part of the family which adds that extra something to what is the perfect spot for those who like a holiday where at times it is so quiet that you can hear the waves lapping on the shore below.Sue & Ian
We are returning to Afrato on Thursday for our fifth visit, I think, after a break of nearly 5 years – thanks to the birth of our lovely Evie in 2007! Can’t wait to see the place and the lovely Jerry, Christina and Natasa – and introduce Evie to a little bit of Paradise.
Can’t wait……Sam, Craig and Evie
me and my wife left afrato village just yesterday
and we mist it already
perfect room, quiet kai near to the sea of trapezaki
not easy to find something for breakfast near there
but we suggest this hotel for everybody how need relax and beatygreg milis
My family stayed at the beautiful Afrato Village and throughly enjoyed the gorgeous view, clean and spacious room, perfect pool, plus the excellent service from Jerry and Christine.
Make sure to rent a car, scooter, or bicycle- or bring good walking shoes as it is definitely a good walk up and down a hill to the beach- good exercise!
We will be back one day soon!Jennifer
Amazing place, great people.
My wife and I stayed in Afrato for 6 days/ 5 nights. This place is exactly what is needed to relax and enjoy Cephalonia and its unique beauty. The hosts, Jerry and his wife, are the personification of Hellenic hospitality and courtesy.
Thank you for everything.
Will see you soon.Dimitris Papageorgiou
This was our second visit to Lourdas and our first stay in Afrato Village we absolutely loved it. Goreous spacious apartments with views to die for. The pool area was fantastic and Jerry and Christine were so friendly and helpful, as were all the local people that we met.
Didn’t mind the walk into Trapezaki or Lourdas as it was so pretty.
Wish we were still there now. We will definitely be returning again!Jill & Brendon
Stayed here in June 2010 -What a treat! The pictures on the web do not
do this place justice. We had the blue room – it was beautiful,
spacious and clean, with a beautiful sea view from the balcony.
Everything was almost new and well looked after. The shower pressure
better than some 5 star hotels and the beds
exceptionally comfortable.. The pool area was gorgeous- breathtaking
views with an big inviting pool with sun lounges, pool showers and
toilets. Everything classy and clean. Jerry and his wife’s pride for
their place is most evident and he was such a wonderful host. We got the ferry from Zante ( much
cheaper flights) and Jerry collected us from the port, however I know
he also picks his guests up from the airport. Thanks again Jerry.

Our first family holiday
We had a fantastic time at Afrato village in Kefalonia and highly recommend it. It was our 6 month old sons first holiday and what a holiday it was! Amazing weather, beautiful beaches, stunning pool and incredible views from our apartment. Apartment was equipped with everything we needed and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Thanks Jerry and hopefully see you again xAbbie, Chris and Eddie
Just back from our 4th visit to Afrato, and as lovely, quiet and relaxing as ever.Jerry and Christina are the most hospitable couple and are always on hand to help and advise, nothing is too much trouble.May is our favourite time, the countryside is beautiful although not all shops and tavernas are open.If you don’t like walking(up hill)a car is essential as the mini market and nearest taverna is approx. 1 mile away, but we have always managed without.Don’t come if want nightlife but if you want a peaceful holiday in lovely suuroundings this is the place for you.Royce and Ann
We have just returned from our second holiday at Aftrato Village. Mere newcomers, other guests return year after year for the friendly atmosphere. We can only echo the comments from other guests. The studios have a wonderful setting, terrific uninterrupted views from the balcony and good facilities what more could you want from a holiday in beautiful Kefalonia.Sue & Bill
Coming back for more
We will soon be heading back for our second stay at Afrato Village. We are counting the days.Last year was superb. A lovely apartment with spectacular views. Peaceful setting, with enough gorgeous beaches and tavernas to keep us happy. Gerry and his wife were so friendly and helpful it really made the holiday special.Sue Ogburn
We stayed at the Afrato Village for 8 nights in June 2008. Our seaplane was cancelled so we ended up arriving by ferry at the opposite end of the island Jerry was more than generous and picked us up which we appreciated so much after our long journey. The apartments are fantastic really spacious with everything youll need and kept really clean. We even had cakes and fruit left by Christina which was great !
The pool was fantastic and the views truly amazing from both the pool and the apartment balcony. We had the pool to ourselves on numerous occassions, sometimes for the entire day. The beaches nearby are also fantastic and some are virtually empty with crystal clear water.
I cant recommend Afrato enough it is an extremely peaceful and relaxing place to stay and Jerry & Christina are such lovely people.Lorraine & Stuart
Wonderful holiday again
We returned again to The Afrato Village this June/July for another 2 week stay, having stayed there in 2007. It was even more relaxing this year. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. As Jerry said our own private pool. The weather was great, nice to get away from the cold weather we’d been having in Wales.
We would be up early & by the pool for 9.30 having read a book on the balcony first watching the sun rise. A few hours enjoying the sunshine before jumping in the car & exploring more of Kefalonia. A return trip to Assos & this time we climbed up to the castle. The views are fantastic. We drove to Sami for the 8.30am ferry to Ithica, a beautiful island.
It was always nice returning to The Afrato to the pool or beach both of which were like walking into a warm bath.
Thank you Jerry & Christina for a fantastic holiday we will be returning soon.Dawn & Gary

Peace and the sound of the sea
We have just returned from our first, but probably not our last, stay at Afrato Village. The apartment was really lovely and the little extras, air conditioning, a bottle of water in the fridge and flowers on the table made it seem really special.
Sitting on the balcony at night, looking across at the sprinkling of lights on the hillsides, with only the sound of the cicadas and waves at Trapezaki was tremendous. The view in the daytime is pretty good too.
Terrific pool that was never crowded.
We hired a car to get round to the variety of beaches so we did not often tackle the steep walk to the restaurants.
Kefalonia is a lovely island and Afrato Village is a great place to stay.Sue & Bill Ogburn
In a word Afrato Village is Paradise, it has the most scenic views of any accommodation in Kefalonia, the photographs on the website do not do the apartments and pool the justice they deserve, if you looking for a quiet tranquil relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay, we have been to Kefalonia four times and three times stayed at Afrato Village, when we arrive we feel we have come home.
Jerry, his wife Kristina and their daughter Natasha are wonderful people and make everyone so welcome and extremely relaxed, this place is so serene you wont want go home. We have been to several Greek Islands and this has by far been the best, we knew the moment we saw the pool overlooking the sea and the extremely clean modern apartments we would never find anywhere else that could possibly even begin to compare to Paradise (and we didnt).
For such a small island there is so much to do and so much history, Jerry is extremely helpful and will help you to hire car to enable you to go and investigate the island and its glorious beaches, the restaurants are a short walk away, very cheap with outstanding food.
We have not written on here before because we are selfish and dont like to share.
Kerry & Dale, England.
If you dont want to lay by the pool you can always visit the following:-
St Gerasimos is the Patron saint of the island and his mummified body is kept in its casket at the monastery bearing the same name.
These Mycenaean tombs are well worth a visit. It is very easy to miss them but they are not far from the main Argostoli road- just below St Georges castle on the hill, close to the centre of Travliata.
Mount Ainos is the largest mountain on Kefalonia and the third highest mountain in Greece.
You can drive most of the way to the top, and its worth the trip, the views are unbelievable. But at 4000+ft, take a jumper!
Fortress of St Georgios
The castle was first fortified in Byzantine times, but its current form dates back to the 16th century.
A natural phenomenon, over 150 million tears old is the amazing cave of Drogarati 3km from Sami. Drogarati is used for concerts in the summer months.
The underground lake of Melissani is worth a visit solely for its natural beauty and crystal clear water. Little boats take you into the recesses of the cave. Hanging from the walls are thousands year old stalactites.
This former Byzantine convent was almost completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1953. The church belonging to the convent was restored to be used as a museum.
Kourkoumelata / Metaxata
Kourkoumelata is one of prettiest villages on the island.
After the earthquake of 1953 the then completely destroyed village was rebuilt by the shipowner Giorgos Vergotis. Travelling from Argostoli you pass through the village of Metaxata where in 1823 the English poet Lord Byron took residence for a few months. In his honour his bust was erected in front of his former house.
Monasteries of Kefalonia
The Monastery of Agios Gerasimos, near the village of Agia Efthimia.
The Monastery of Panagia Kekrionos, of Panagia Koronatou and of Kipouria, near the village of Lixouri.
The Monastery of Panagia of Atrou, the oldest of the island.
The Monastery of Panagia of Agrilion, near the village of Sami.
The Monastery of Agios Andreas, with the remains of the Saint, near the village of Svoronata.
The Monastery of Panagia of Platiteras, near the village of Fiscardo.
The Venetian Castle, in the village of Assos.
The Graves of Mycenaean Period, in the village of Lixouri.
The Collection of Ancient Ceramics and post Byzantine icons, in the village of Lissouri.
The Remains of the Ancient City Sami, in the area of todays town of Sami.
The Folk Museum and the Collection of Icons, in the public library of the capital.
The Archeological Museum of the capital Argostoli, with findings of all the historical period of the island.
Saint George’s Castle ‘Kastro’
The villages below Saint George’s castle are Peratata and Travliata and the castle is signposted from the villages. After walking around the castle ramparts, you will find a resting treat – The Castle Cafι, the food and views here are fantastic and they open for evening meals too.
Take a trip in the glass bottom boat
See the loggerhead Turtles Caretta Caretta
And of course Captain Corelli’s Mandolin was filmed here too.Dale & Kerry

Hello Jerry, Christina. Thank you for our wonderful holiday at Afreto. We are missing our lovely chats around the pool and especially our ouzo! It was our first time with you but not our last- we shall be seeing you in 2008. Apartments and pool were spotlessly clean and views were to die for.You made us feel so welcome- thank you!Lynette & Paul
A little bit of Paradise
Recently returned from 2 idyllic weeks at the Afrato Village, our first visit. Delighted with quality, cleansiness of appartment, with truly breathtaking views. The air conditioning at no extra cost was wonderful.
Jerry and his family could not be more kind, honest or helpful, evidenced by the number of people who return 4-5 years in a row, and we would recommend this Holiday to anyone.Ray, Carol, Chloe Kinner
Laid back holidays
We have recently returned from our 5th visit to Afrato Village and can confirm what all the other guests have said about this great place.
If its peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings you want , this is the place to be. Jerry, Christina and Natasha are ever so friendly and make everyone most welcome. We are just about to book again for 2008.David & Joan
We didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to you, so therefor we write you this little message. Thank you for the beautiful, peaceful place you have, we have had a fantastic holiday.
Pity we didn’t accept your offer to stay for another week under the umbrellas next to the pool 😉 Now that we are back home – where it’s only 15 degrees – we would love to lie there again and enjoy the view, the pool, the sun, etc.
Greetings to Kristina and Natascha, thank you for taking us to the fiesta in Troianata!

We stayed at Afrato 2nd half of May 2007 and were very very happy. This is the nicest place for your stay, from all points of view. Marvellous.
Going back home was litterally difficult, due to bad weather conditions (flight to Athens cancelled => rush to Sami port, ferry to Patra & rush to Athens airport…).
Chairetismata zesta!Janis & Anna Maria
We had a fantastic holiday at The Afrato Village. So many nice things to mention there’s not enough space. Firstly, Jerry is such a warm friendly man. His wife Christina (a wonderful cook) & daughter Natasha made our stay special. The views from the room & balcony are spectacular. The apartments are of a very high standard & the layout well thoughtout. The pool (our favourite place) was so peaceful with great sun beds. During our stay we felt as though it was our own private pool, at it’s busiest there were 8 people by it. Again the views from the pool were amazing.
It was always a nice end to the dat sitting on the patio by the bar having a drink with Jerry, who is only too pleased to give you any information about his beautiful island. We had excellent company in Theo & Sylvia, Tony & Sandy. It was fun to hear about each others day, & best places to eat. We had a memorable evening when we ate by the pool & a night of Greek dancing where Christina excelled, & the lads tried thier best!
Thank you Jerry for a fantastic holiday, we know why people return year after year. See you in 2008.Dawn & Gary
Greetings from Holland

A relaxing holiday
We will shortly be going to the Afrato Village for the fifth year. If you like a peaceful and relaxing holiday then this is the place for you. The apartments are excellent and Jerry and his family cannot do enough for you. Each year on our return it it is just like going to visit old friends and family. The photographs on the website of the swimming pool do not do it justice together with the fantastic view looking out to sea. We would recommend the Afrato wholeheartedly.Sue & Ian
I would thank you of the beautiful week we had at Afrato. We have enjoyed the beatiful sight from our appartment, the swimmingpool, and the very good barbeque. We will meet again maybe already next yearPaul en Janneke
Our Stay at Afrato Village
We have just returned from a week staying at Afrato Village and what a wonderful week it was too. Jerry met us at the airport and took us to our appartment. He couldnt wait to show us the views from our balcony. It was absolutely stunning. Exactly as his website pictures show. And the view from the beautiful swimming pool area was just as amazing too, looking down to the coastline and behind you to the mountains. His wife, Christina, had made us homemade biscuits along with a bottle of wine for our arrival and we got more cake when our room was cleaned!! The accomodation was comfortable and very clean. A short walk took us to the supermarket and restaurants. This place comes highly recommended. We will definately be back again.Carolyne Milbourn
